Solar Pile and Panels Installation — How it Works and Why It Matters

Last Updated on May 5, 2022 by Duncan

Solar energy has become one of the most important pieces of technology in recent years. There are many reasons for this, but the most important is its nature as renewable energy.

It doesn’t cause any form of pollution contrary to other commonly used forms of energy production.

Because of the recent state of the world and the way it has been affected by pollution, mankind has been in a race to find better ways to handle many aspects of its structure, and energy manipulation is definitely one of them.

Energy is a crucial aspect of today’s society as we know it, not only because it makes it possible for several different industries to run as intended, but also because it provides a level of comfort for regular citizens that would be unachievable otherwise.

This is the main reason why solar energy has been studied and developed, and many experts aspire to apply it to multiple fields all around the world.

Nowadays, however, solar energy is still being developed, and although it has a lot of potential, it is applied to a reduced number of fields, and there are many reasons for that.

However, understanding the way it works and why it matters might broaden some people’s perspective, and this can definitely help the world when it comes to those in charge of industries that rely on energy to deal with some of their procedures.

Thus, in a simple yet understandable way, we will try to explain how a solar pile and panels installation works and why it can be a huge method to reduce the overall world’s pollution.

Renewable Energy

Renewable energy, also commonly referred to as clean or natural sources, is a concept that describes sources that are not depleted when used, contrary to sources like gas or coal, which are limited in nature. Very good examples of these sources include:

  • Water flow, relied upon by water dams
  • Wind, relied upon by windmills, or wind turbines
  • Sunlight, relied upon by solar panels

They are often considered clean sources because they don’t produce pollution, or at least, considerably less pollution than other forms of non-renewable energy, like oil.

A Basic Introduction to Solar Panels

There’s a very complex explanation we can provide to explain how solar panels work, but we will go with a very basic explanation that summarizes that idea pretty well.

You see, solar panels can be simply described as a piece of technology that absorbs sunlight, and this sunlight produces a flow of electricity through its interaction with the photovoltaic cells found in it, electricity that can be used for a wide range of things.

Discussing Solar Energy as a Whole

On paper, the idea of a renewable form of energy that is available on a daily basis seems appealing, and it is true that there are many ways to take advantage of it, but not everything is perfect, which is the reason why this technology hasn’t been applied to all fields all around the world.

First of all, consider that this source completely relies on the sun. This means that the amount of sunlight you receive will decide the amount of energy produced.

And… Sadly, at night, we don’t have any sunlight! Add the fact that there are locations in the world that also don’t receive as much sunlight even during the day, especially in certain seasons of the year, making it harder for it to be as effective.

Another thing to consider is that installing this technology can be considerably expensive.

The great thing about it is that it has been evolving over the years, making it more accessible for many people, but in some locations, you might have to deal with certain regulations, while there might be providers that still lack the competitive price of other providers.

Generally speaking, the technology is still in its growing phase, and it is only perceived as an excellent long-term investment, but not a really good short-term one. The best way to take advantage of it is by having a solid idea of how to use it, and installing panels in a location that can take advantage of the sun as much as possible.

Nowadays, very efficient applications of solar panels involve its use for very specific things.

In agriculture, for example, solar panels are used to power irrigation devices, and in some cities, panels are being used to power street lights, since they are mostly turned on at night and turned off during the day!

With more improvements, and more research and creativity, finding better applications for solar panels will be a matter of time, and if you are interested in it, you can always find ways to apply for the long-term run, making it a worthwhile investment for many industries in the world.

On my 15th birthday, I became the designated gardener in my home.

Now at 32, I have a small garden and every day I'm out trying different plants and seeing how they grow. I grow guavas, peaches, onions, and many others. Want to know more about me? Read it here.
